ABOUT US

The name "Pangea Software" came into being late in 1987 while we were developing our first published game, 'Xenocide'. At the time I was in such a hurry to register the company at city hall that I forgot to verify the spelling of "Pangea" and took a wrong guess. The correct spelling is actually "Pangaea." It's some Greek-like word which is the name of the single continent which existed billions of years ago before all the existing continents broke away. Much to my surprise, there are several other "Pangea" companies out there, all with the same incorrect spelling!

In February, 1999, Pangea Software became Pangea Software, Inc. I figured that the company was a sole proprietorship for long enough and that it was about time to incorporate. The "Inc." looks so darn fancy ya know.

Pangea's purpose for existing is to make cool stuff. "Cool Stuff" can be just about anything. It might be video games, it might be development tools, heck, we even took a stab at holography once (too expensive to be profitable). Basically, if there's an idea which we think is cool, then it's the kind of idea we're likely to work on.
