ABOUT THE GAME

Air Wings is a multi-player networked flying battle game where you pilot various types of paper airplanes, and collect weapons to fire at your opponents. The goal is to destroy all of the other players and be the last player alive.

There is a single training level in Air Wings in which you can learn to fly the planes, but the main game is the networked battle modes, so you will need an active internet connection (WiFi or Cellular) along with a Game Center account to play.

QUICK START GUIDE

• On the Main Menu screen select PLAY GAME.

• Next, choose TUTORIAL if you want to just practice your solo flying, or select MULTIPLAYER if you're ready for an online multiplayer battle.

• When the game starts you'll see your hand with an airplane in it. Next to the airplane is a yellow note with information about your plane. To select a different Plane either tap the yellow note or select the plane from the scrolling list at the bottom of the screen. To fly the selected Plane simply tap the Plane or the Throw Button.

Speed Maneuverability Shield Ammo

• Collect ammo for your weapons by looking for the flashlights. Above each flashlight you'll see a powerup. Fly into the powerup to gather it.

• Also collect coins to get points, health, and wind.

• If you're in Battle mode, look for your opponents on the map, or look at the arrows at the top of the screen that indicate the direction to turn to find the closest player.

• You will see your opponent's health and lives on the right side of the screen. Your health and lives remaining are at the top.

• Shoot players to destroy them!

THE AIRPLANES

Different planes have different capabilities. Some are fast, some are slow. Some can take a lot of damage, while others are very fragile. Some can hold lots of ammo while others cannot. The default, free airplane is The Dart. The other planes all require an upgrade.

THE DART

This is the only plane available without a Plane Pack Upgrade. It's a fairly average plane with limited speed and ammo capacity.

BUZZER

Included in the Plane Pack #1 upgrade, the Buzzer has improved speed and maneuverability.

BALSA PLANE

Included in Plane Pack #1, the Balsa plane is not as fast or maneuverable as many other planes, but it can hold a lot of ammo and can take a lot of damage.

THE BOMBER

This is the slowest of all of the planes, but it is also the strongest and can hold more ammo than any other plane. It comes with the Plane Pack #2 upgrade.

TIBURON

The Tiburon is also included with Plane Pack #2, and it is the fastest and most maneuverable of all of the planes, but can hold the least ammo and takes the least damage. But it is the smallest of the planes, so enemy weapons can't hit it as easily.

Foam Biplane
FOAM BIPLANE

The Biplane is as maneuverable as the Tiburon, but not as fast. However, it holds a lot of ammo!

Quadrocopter
QUADROCOPTER

The Quadrocopter is unique because it can hover which is great for sitting still and shooting at enemies. It holds a lot of ammo and can take a beating, however, it is the most difficult aircraft to control.

Quadrocopter
KITE

The Kite is a very powerful plane. It's fast, takes lots of damage, and holds lots of weapons. However, it is a huge target and is easily hit. Plus, its size makes it difficult to fly in tight spaces.

Quadrocopter
FIGHTER

The Fighter takes moderate damage, but it's quick and holds a lot of ammo, especially spit balls.

Flying Squirrel
FLYING SQUIRREL

The Flying Squirrel is a really fun "plane", and it has the unique distinction of being immune from the Dart weapons. Suction cups can't stick to fur, so those bullets just bounce off the Flying Squirrel!

Tubular
Tubular

The Tubular plane is very agile! It's fast, maneuverable, and all-around a great plane!

Javelin
Javelin

This is a very long, and fast paper airplane! It has a wide turning radius, and tends to slide a bit, but boy is it fast!

Wright Flyer
Wright Flyer

Possibly the coolest plane of them all! It's a good all-around plane with generally good capabilities.

Wright Flyer
Wright Flyer

The toy flying saucer! Lots of fun to fly!

Wright Flyer
Wright Flyer

The toy rocket car! Very maneuverable!

GAME CONTROLS & INDICATORS

To steer your airplane tilt your iPhone/iPad. The other controls are the on-screen buttons:

NEUTRAL

This is a very important button! Press it to set the "neutral" position of the iPad/iPhone to steer the plane.

FIRE

Press or hold this button down to fire the selected weapon.

WEAPON

Indicates which weapon is currently selected, and shows you how much ammo you have for it. Tap this button to change weapons. You can only select weapons which you have ammo for.

WIND

Hold this button down to blow wind that makes your plane go faster. As you use the wind you'll see the button start to "drain". When it runs out you will have to release the button and let the wind recharge.

THE WEAPONS

All of the different planes in Air Wings can use all of the different weapons, however, the planes have different ammo capacities. Some planes can carry lots of ammunition while others can hold very little.

SPIT BALLS

The Spit Ball gun is the default weapon. You always start with 20 of these.

BOMBS

Firing this drops a firecracker bomb on a parachute. The bombs will slowly float down, and they detonate on impact with anything. Use these as air mines.

HEAT SEEKERS

These pencil missiles are essentially heat seeking missiles.

RUBBERBANDS

The Rubberbands are interesting because they ricochet off of anything that they hit!

SUCTION CUPS

The suction cups are a deadly weapon because when you hit a player with them they stick and detonate later.

PAPERCLIPS

This is the ultimate defensive weapon because it shoots backwards at a high rate. It moves similar to the Rubberbands, but they're more accurate and more deadly. The only trick is that aiming them is hard since they fire backwards.

COIN POWERUPS

You will see different coins scattered around each level. These coins are powerups that you should grab by flying into them.

BONUS

This gives you 50 bonus points! Collect 20 to get more speed, 30 to get more shield, and 40 to get more ammo capacity.

WIND / SPEED

This refills your Wind button to full!

HEALTH

This gives you additional health!

Gyro + Compass: This is the default and recommended Gyro control which uses a combination of the Gyro and the Compass to determine your bearing and keep it accurate.

Gyroscope: This is another Gyro mode that only uses the Gyro without the assistance of the Compass. The gyro may tend to drift in this mode which will require more pressing of the Neutral button.

JOYSTICK INVERTED UP: If you have Flight Controls set to Game Controller then this lets you change how up/down behaves.

BUYING IN-APP GAME UPGRADES

Air Wings is a "freemium" game which means that it's free, but it has in-app purchases which you can buy to get Upgrades. In Air Wings you can buy various Plane Pack or Level Pack Upgrades which give you access to the different planes and levels.

NOTE: Buying any upgrade will also remove iAds from the game, so you don't have to see advertisements ever again!

To purchase any upgrade simply tap the price on the right. From there the App Store will take over and ask you some questions to make the purchase.

In Air Wings 6.0 we added the "Super Bundle" upgrade which is a simple 1-click upgrade that gives you *everything* instead of having to buy all of the individual upgrades separately. The great thing about the Super Bundle is that it costs less than buying the individual upgrades, and once you have the Super Bundle any future Level or Plane Packs that we add to Air Wings will be FREE to you! In other words, the Super Bundle gives you EVERYTHING - now and forever!

If you ever have to reinstall Air Wings, or you install it on a different device you can always get your purchased Upgrades back. Just pres the Restore Purchases button in the upper-right corner. Be sure that you're logged into the same iTunes account that you originally purchased them with.

SCORING

• You get 50 points for each Bonus Coin that you pick up.

• Every time you kill another player you get 750 points.

• If you win the Battle you get another 2000 points for each player that was in the battle.

• If you have a low Flake Out ratio you get 500 bonus points at the end of the game, win or lose.

• Each time a spitwad or rubberband bullet hits an enemy you get 15 points.

• 500 points bonus for each extra life you have at the end of a game.

• Killing yourself results in a 50 point penalty.

PLAYER STATS

The Player Stats screen is accessed by selecting INFO->MY STATS on the Main Menu screen:

Air Wings Player Stats

This shows your accumulated stats which includes the number of games played, how often you win, how often you flake out of a game, etc. The Flake Out Ratio is important because if you have a low Flake Out Ratio (15% or less) then you get a 500 point bonus at the end of every battle, but if your ratio is high (35% or higher) then your scores will not be posted to the High Scores Leaderboard until your ratio improves. The reason for this is because the #1 complaint we get is that players bail in the middle of a battle, so now we're tracking how often you do that. Good behavior is rewarded while bad behavior is penalized.

GAME STATS

The Game Stats screen appears at the end of every Battle:

Air Wings Game Stats

What this shows you is a table that indicates how many times each player killed every other player. You can tap the player name in the tab bar at the top of the screen to change players, and that will update the table to show who this player killed, and who killed this player. It also shows the player's score, or it will indicate if the player flaked out.
