Pangea Arcade / Pangea Arcade re-released!
« on: December 22, 2010, 04:42:12 PM »
Pangea Arcade has been gone for a while, but today it went back up:  http://www.pangeasoft.net/arcade

A few years ago we sold the rights to the trademark "Firefall" to another company, and as part of the deal we had to stop using it.  We were selling so few copies of Pangea Arcade (which had a game called Firefall in it) that it wasn't worth changing the name and putting out a new update, so instead we just yanked it from sale.  But with the Mac App Store opening soon I figured it was a good idea to update it, so I changed the name "Firefall" to "Fireworms" and submitted it to the App Store.  I also then updated it for our web site.

So, you can now buy Pangea Arcade on our site or wait a few weeks for it to appear on the Mac App Store when that opens.

Quarters / New free version of Quarters is out!
« on: December 20, 2010, 05:07:29 PM »
Apple approved our new free version of Quarters which is supported by iAds.  Unfortunately, there are no iAds in there for some reason, but the game seems to work.

That's odd.  I just tried it here and it worked fine for me.  Can you check the crash log and see what it says is happening?

Miscellaneous Discussions / Re: Spammers and spambots...

Yep, sorry about that.  Normally I catch these immediately, but I've been out of town for 3 days, so this one slipped by me.  Currently I have the forum setup so that it uses user-authentication (where they have to click a link in an email), but if this continues or gets bad I'll setup for admin authentication so that I have to authenticate all new forum members.  It's pretty easy to spot the spammers because their email addresses are always gibberish.

Enigmo / Enigmo 2 / Enigmo Deluxe / Re: Enigmo 2 Deluxe for iPad?
« on: December 17, 2010, 04:33:06 PM »
Well, the original Mac version had the level editor, and that's actually how the levels were built, so it's not really tricky at all.  The problem is simply in justifying the time it would take to put the editor back into the iPhone version.  Considering how poorly Enigmo Deluxe is selling on the iPad it is hard to justify doing it for Enigmo 2 as well.

Nanosaur 2 / Re: Battle in Forest : bombs !
« on: December 17, 2010, 04:30:03 PM »
It is best to use the bombs only when you are very high up.  That way the shockwave of the exploding bomb doesn't hurt you.  I like to fly all the way to the top and just strafe the other player with bombs.  If they're anywhere near the ground then the shockwaves will get them.

Enigmo / Enigmo 2 / Enigmo Deluxe / Re: Enigmo 2 Deluxe for iPad?
« on: December 17, 2010, 07:33:53 AM »
Not likely since Enigmo 2 is already universal, and Enigmo Deluxe doesn't sell squat anyways.

If I remember correctly:
  • Otto Matic
  • Bugdom 2
  • Nanosaur 2
  • Billy Frontier
  • Enigmo
  • Enigmo 2
  • Bracketeer
  • Pangea Arcade

Did I forget anything?

Miscellaneous Discussions / Re: Enigmo 2 Update? (Mac OS X)
« on: December 13, 2010, 10:04:38 PM »
That's because it's a small download for the whole thing and there was never a CD version of it.  So, you just download the full thing to update it.

Otto Matic / Re: The Manhole Covers on Planet Knarr...
« on: December 12, 2010, 08:03:51 AM »
Well, I did some debugging and it looks like this was the result of a compiler glitch.  It worked fine in a debug build, but then the manhole covers were gone for an optimized release build.  So, I changed the type of optimized build and now it works fine.  Go figure.

I'm waiting for the Mac app store to open before I upload any new versions.  I'm sure there will be some other stuff that needs fixing when that happens, so this fix will be in the next update.

Power Pete / Mighty Mike / Re: The name change...
« on: December 12, 2010, 07:28:21 AM »
Mighty Mike was the original name of the game, but MacPlay / Interplay thought it was too close to Mighty Mouse (idiots) and changed it to Power Pete.  We expressed our disgust of that name, but they released it with that title anyways.  So, as soon as we got the rights back we changed the name back.

Nanosaur 2 / Re: Nanosaur Metal "Eye" Doors
« on: December 12, 2010, 07:26:55 AM »
Yeah, it's the same as on levels 1 and 2, but the "kiosks" are not as obviously placed as in those levels.

Nanosaur & Nanosaur 2 / Re: Battle fields
« on: December 09, 2010, 07:46:03 AM »
If you have the option to pick (like you used to in Cro-Mag Rally) then the odds of finding an auto-match get cut in half.  If we add more battle levels later then those odds just keep going down and down.  In the first release of Cro-Mag Rally there were 9 tracks to choose from and Game Center only matches up people who select the same track, so it virtually never found an auto-match.  Letting the app randomly choose it is really the only way to go.

Bugdom 2 / Bugdom 2 v3.1.2 is out!
« on: December 06, 2010, 10:05:21 PM »
Apple just approved the latest Bugdom 2 update.  This fixes a graphics glitch in Level 2 where the "Squish Berries" were invisible.
