Very initial impression on plane changes is . . . nice work!!!
Much more changed on the Kite than I anticipated. I expected it's health to go down about what it did, but I did not at all anticipate the reduction in weapons capacity, which was very needed as well. It now takes 12 can hits to kill a kite instead of 14, or "approximately" a 20% downgrade of the shield. It now holds 40 rubber bands & 40 suction cups instead of 100 of each of those, & 5 pencils instead of 6. It still has 40 firecrackers & a crap ton of spitballs. It's obviously very, very early on, but I think I'd probably end up happy if this was the only change. It might still have a little too much shield, but I think firecrackers hurt it much more now, & if that's the case it is fine even if it keeps its 40 firecrackers if it will now have to watch out for the firecrackers, too. It's got plenty of ammo to get by perfectly fine as it is now. No plane really needs anymore than this, especially w/a solid shield like the Kite's, & a good speed & excellent maneuverability combination. Besides, the Bomber should have the most ammo b/c it's so dang slow & it's hard for it to collect ammo quickly. I still think the Quad carries too much ammo, etc., but I'm not arguing for plane changes again once things get settled after all this!! Nice work!!
The Fighter, too, had an unexpected change in the ammo, as in now holds 50 suction cups instead of 40. This doesn't seem to make much difference one way or the other as 40 is a crap ton already (& the suction cups is the one piece of ammo that often doesn't work well for people b/c of connection issues), but everything else about the ammo on the Fighter stayed the same. As for its shield, it used to take 4 can hits to kill it. Now it takes one more can hit to finish it off, but after it hits the 4th can there's just a teeny, tiny sliver of health left, so it's really not much of a change since almost 4 cans still kills it. I'm guessing a 5% change or so up in shield at most, so it's still going to be on the fragile side. The 10 extra suction cups don't make up for what is still a fairly weak shield on the Fighter, but it's got plenty of other good things going for it. Frankly, I'd rather see the 10 extra suction cups be taken back away if nothing else is changed, just so the thing isn't called overpowered for having them when they don't mean anything anyway & weren't needed.
So, as it seems to stand w/this cursory testing earlier tonight, I think I'm more or less fine w/how things are if they stay the way they are. My opinions didn't change at all from my initial beta testing ever, & I did the same kind of testing here, so I don't expect to change my thoughts much again from this post if at all. I'd rather have the game perfectly balanced (which isn't possible anyway w/so many different opinions), but what people want most is to get back to a place where leaving well enough alone has everyone happy. No one was all that worried about the Fighter nearly so much as the Kite, & the Kite changes are substantial & well thought out to bring it down into balance now. So, it seems to be very nice work from Brian on the new tweaks!!! My final word is that I agree wholeheartedly w/the many others that no plane needs 40 firecrackers. I don't see any reason to mess w/the Bomber, but any other plane w/a lot should change to 20 firecrackers at the very most. Maybe even just 15 or 16 at most. Anyway, I think everyone here on the forum & out there who has been emailing Pangea recently will be much, much happier w/these planes!!
